Sugar scrubs are so much fun and so easy to make! With the season changing, fall is the perfect time to make a sugar scrub. Sugar scrubs are great for getting rid of dead dry skin, rejuvenating and softening the skin. One of our favorites is the brown sugar scrub. With it’s rich aroma, wonderful texture and great results, you are sure to love it as well. Here are five steps to making a brown sugar scrub.
1. Brown Sugar
First you need brown sugar. Make sure that the sugar is not extremely hard or old. The newer or softer the brown sugar, the better. You will need one full cup, if you want to make a larger portion or give to friends and family for the holidays just be sure you have two parts brown sugar and one part carrier oil.
2. Carrier oil
This can be any carrier oil you like. We love almond oil with this recipe, you can also use olive oil, apricot oil, jojoba oil, it really is just personal preference. You will use 1/2 cup of this oil.
3. Vitamin E
If you would like to add extra moisture and want to have this mix last a little longer vitamin E has natural preservatives and is amazing for the skin. You can use a teaspoon of pure vitamin e oil and even cut open the gelatin vitamin E caps.
4. Essential oils
Essential oils are great to add scent to your scrub, for fall we love using vanilla or grapefruit seed essential oil. You can add any essential oil you like, a few drops is more than enough.
5. Honey
Honey adds even more moisture to the skin. Honey is a natural humectant which draws in moisture to drier areas. Add a teaspoon of honey to the mix and you won’t only be sweet as honey, your skin will be soft and glowing!
Mix all ingredients together add to a mason jar or container of you choice, use your scrub in the bath or shower and you will love the results!
Will you be using the brown sugar scrub for yourself or gifting it to friends?
