6 SIMPLE WAYS TO MOISTURIZE YOUR NATURAL HAIR WITH WATER THIS WINTER

Most curly girls know water can be a curls best friend when it comes to hydration, elasticity and overall health. Even though wet hair usually amounts to frizzy hair eventually, it’s still important to take the time to give your hair the moisture it craves.

Too much of anything, however, is never a good thing. It’s important that you’re hair does not remain wet 24/7 to avoid bacterial growth. Water also evaporates quickly, so it can be beneficial to seal with tgin’s Argan Replenishing Hair and Body Serum and our Butter Cream Daily Moisturizer

In moderation, water really is the greatest moisturizer of them all. Try out one of these effective moisturizing methods using water only!

The Beanie Method

This method is great for the colder seasons when hats and beanies work as great disguises for deep treatments. No one will ever know your hair is getting pampered with moisture underneath. Dampen clean hair with water, cover the majority of your hair with a plastic cap, and cover cap with a cute winter beanie. Wear as a style and by the end of the day, your hair will be soft with moisture.

Hair Steamers

The Huetiful Hair Steamer in particular has become a natural hair favorite. This product is an initial investment, but if you use steam as your primary deep conditioning treatment, you will save money in the end. Simply fill the container with water, let heat, and sit under the hood for however long your hair needs. The heat from the steam opens pores and allows for maximum water penetration. Your curls will feel noticeably softer than after a regular wash.

The Greenhouse Effect

Normally the Greenhouse Effect consist of coating hair and scalp with oils or product before covering with shower cap and heading to bed. Instead of using heavy moisturizers, this method can also be used with plain water. This method is done at night when the body’s temperature naturally rises so that the heat from the scalp will heat damp hair for a steamy effect. For a bigger temperature boost, you can cover the cap with a warm turban, scarf or beanie.

Spritz, spritz, spritz

For instant light moisture, try spritzing the hair with water throughout the day using a spray bottle when it feels particularly dry. This is great for the ends of your hair especially, which face the most damage and are also the oldest parts of your hair. If you’re hair is already coated with product, gel, or oil before misting, then the water will not penetrate the strands. However, wetting the hair will still boost malleability which helps prevent breakage.

Plastic Cap + Hooded Dryer

If you don’t want to invest in a hair steamer, but want a deep steam treatment, try covering freshly washed or damp hair with a plastic cap and heating with a hooded dryer. If you don’t have a hooded dryer, a regular blow dryer will also work as long as you make sure to rotate, providing heat to all sections of your scalp. This is a good method to do if you normally blow-dry your hair dry. It also adds a boost of deep moisture and elasticity before a blowout or flat ironed style.

Drink Up

Lastly, you are what you eat. The hair that grows out of your scalp is only as healthy as what you put into your body. Being conscious of water consumption can help keep your entire body hydrated, promoting healthy hair growth. Keeping a water bottle with you at all times is a good reminder to drink water on the regular.
