We are excited to introduce you to Amaris, our Naturalista of the Month! She shares her favorite tgin products, deep conditioning routine, and what she can’t live without. She is a true #tginaturalista!
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
My name is Amaris and I am from Maryland. I am a Client Partnership Manager for a media company working with brands to create integrated digital marketing strategies on multiple media channels. On my down time, when I am not running around being a football and soccer mom, I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family and friends.
Years ago I was a freelance makeup artist with a focus on bridal makeup and I started using Instagram as @mylipstickdiary and Facebook to connect with makeup artists and makeup enthusiasts. After a while I realized that I enjoyed just connecting with beauty junkies in general (which is how I came across tgin) and decided that I would utilize Instagram as a way to discover beauty products and share my experiences using those products in an authentic way.
In the future, I am exploring ideas on blogging about topics related to balancing as a career/Super-mom-on-the-go with an apologetic twist on being a beauty-product junkie LOL!
What is your favorite tgin product and how do you use it?
I use Honey Miracle Hair Mask, Butter Cream Daily Moisturizer, Argan Replenishing Hair & Body Serum and the Moist Collection Sample Pack.
I have a Sunday night ritual where I give myself a “hair spa” treatment with Honey Miracle Hair Mask. I apply the Honey Miracle Hair Mask on my hair, wrap my hair with a hot moist towel and sit under the dryer for about 20 minutes. My curls tend to soak up so much moisture and by wrapping the hot towel around my hair, I find that that the Honey Miracle Hair Mask penetrates the shaft of the hair, leaving it soft and frizz free.
While my hair is still wet, I style my curls with Butter Cream Daily Moisturizer. I mix the Argan Replenishing Hair & Body Serum with my current moisturizer and apply that all over my body and I use it as a standalone on my face at night. It smells A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. I also apply it to my hair as a leave-behind for my husband when I travel because he loves the smell. Lastly, I use the Moist Collection Sample Pack because it’s perfect for when I am traveling because it’s TSA approved!
How long have you been natural and what advice would you give to others transitioning to natural hair?
I’ve always had natural curls. I am half African American and Filipino. I struggled with taking care of my hair when I was younger because of the lack of products available for natural curly hair and knowledge of different types of curly hair. I think I tried all types of hair straighteners and frizz-free chemicals that damaged my hair because I was not confident about my curly hair.
The natural hair community thrives today because brands like tgin develop products that are designed to address the needs of caring for natural hair. My advice to anyone considering transitioning to natural hair is to embrace the process, try brands such as tgin, and connect with others who also share the same experiences with caring for natural hair.
What is one thing you can’t live without?
I skipped a few Sunday sessions and I could tell because my hair was less manageable. It’s safe to say that I am addicted to using Honey Miracle Hair Mask and my curls needs that weekly ritual!
