Congrats are in order for our latest Miss Teen USA, 18 year old Kaliegh Garris took home the crown at this years Miss Teen USA awards. The young Conneticut resident told Refinery 29 that her choice to wear her natural hair was not without naysayers. While some advised the young pagent goer to wear her hair straight or with extensions she went with her gut and rocked her natural curls.
After finger coiling every single strand of her hair Garris came out with a beautiful curl set that looked stunning with her gown and not to mention her crown! Previously crowned Miss Conneticut Teen USA 2019 Garris defeated 51 other contestants to take home the crown for Miss Teen USA.
Garris has went on to draw national attention for her choice of wearing her natural curls for the ceremony and has inspired so many young women to have confidence to simply be themselves, despite the naysayers.
We look forward to hearing about and seeing more of this talented young woman!
