How to Pineapple Curly Natural Hair Any Length

The key to gorgeous second and third day curls that POP? The pineappling method. If you haven’t been using this method, give it a try. It may just change your life — and if not your life, at least your curls! (Reducing frizz, that is).

The pineapple method typically works best for shoulder length, to medium, to long hair. If you have very short hair, or hair as short as a TWA, then simply wrapping your hair at night works just as well.

All you will need is an oversized head scarf (preferable a silky texture so as not to snag your curls and cause unwanted breakage…) and depending on your hair length and texture, additional scrunchies and/or hair bands.

For short to medium length hair:

Gather your curls at the crown of your head. If you’re texture is looser, secure with a hair tie. If your curls are tight, skip the hair tie and use a loose scrunchie — you can also skip the scrunchie entirely to avoid a crease. Then wrap your hair with a scarf using the pineapple method. (See full tutorial below).

    For medium to long hair:

Just like with shorter curls, gather your hair at the top of your head. If your hair is very thick, try separating into 2-3 smaller sections using a hair tie before pineappling with a scarf. The scarf helps retain moisture and prevent breakage.
