tgin and EMERGE: Elevating Black Voices in Fashion and Beauty

New York Fashion Week (NYFW) has always been a whirlwind of glamour and style, but this year,  tgin® is taking center stage with our most ambitious collaboration yet. As we elevate our longstanding support of NYFW, we’re proud to announce our multifaceted partnership with the EMERGE Fashion Show, an official part of the NYFW schedule that champions Black-owned brands and designers.

Our collaboration with EMERGE manifests in three powerful ways: as the presenting sponsor of this groundbreaking show, through custom designs from the talented Korto Momolu, and as the exclusive haircare line for runway-ready hair. This partnership reaffirms our commitment to being the most trusted haircare brand for women who prioritize quality ingredients and a holistic approach to self-care and wellness, from top to toe.

The EMERGE Fashion Show

For 13 years, EMERGE has been the springboard for emerging designers of color, giving them a global stage during one of the biggest events of the year. Taking place on September 10, 2024, at the Leman Ballroom in New York City, the New York Fashion Week show features an impressive lineup of talented designers including Rene' Tyler Designs, Latricesa Myonne, Tanni Scott of tallHer, Tygerian Lace Designs, Jermaine Pratt, and lead EMERGE designer, Korto Momolu.

Meet Korto Momolu

Korto Momolu, a standout name in this year's EMERGE lineup, brings a unique perspective to the fashion world. A former Project Runway star, Korto has made a name for herself with her fashion-forward women's wear that celebrates her rich heritage through the use of traditional and luxury fabrics. Her designs are not just clothes; they're wearable art that tells a story of culture, identity, and empowerment.

In an exciting collaboration, Korto has designed a special "Queen Mother" outfit for our CEO, Aris Singleton, to wear at the EMERGE Fashion Show. This stunning ensemble—featuring a cape, ball skirt, and custom-fitted bustier—embodies the spirit of regality and confidence that both our brand and Korto embodies. It's a powerful visual representation of tgin's journey from a small, passionate startup to a leading voice in the natural haircare industry.

Runway-Ready Hair

Our involvement goes beyond mere sponsorship. By providing our premium haircare products for use backstage, we're ensuring that the models' hair looks its absolute best on the runway. This practical support addresses a long-standing issue in the fashion industry where models with natural and textured hair have often been underserved when it comes to hair and makeup services.

As NYFW kicks off, we can't wait for you to see what we've been working on. The EMERGE Fashion Show is going to be a testament to the power of Black creativity, resilience, and excellence. And when you see our CEO strutting down the runway in Korto Momolu's ensemble, know that it represents more than just a beautiful outfit. It's a statement about the royalty that exists in each of us, the resilience that defines us, and the revolution we're leading in the fashion and beauty industry.

Don't miss out on all the excitement! Follow tgin® for exclusive behind-the-scenes content, live updates during NYFW, and a front-row seat to all the glamour and style of the EMERGE Fashion Show. Up next: our “Get the Look” series on how to recreate stunning runway looks using tgin® products.
