The dryness of the oncoming seasons can bring on a dry scalp and a lot of flaking. It’s very common to experience dandruff–instead of resorting to expensive treatments, you can mix up your own remedies in your own kitchen with ingredients you may already have. Here are 8 natural remedies for dandruff that will help moisturize your scalp and alleviate flaking!

1. Yogurt and Black Pepper

Mix 1 cup of yogurt with 2 tea spoons of black pepper. Rub mixture onto scalp and let sit for one hour. Use a gentle shampoo to wash out of hair.

2. Olive Oil

Massage 2-3 tea spoons of olive oil onto your scalp before bed. Let the oil sit on your scalp overnight and wash out with gentle shampoo in the morning.

3. Asprin

Dissolve 2 asprin in tea spoon of water. Mix this together with the amount of shampoo you would normally use to wash your hair. Massage shampoo mixture onto scalp when washing your hair and rinse out as  normal.

4. Lemon & Coconut

Mix 1 table spoon lemon juice with 5 table spoons of coconut oil. Rub mixture onto scalp and leave on for 30 minutes to an hour before washing out.

 5. Apple cider vinegar

Before shampooing, massage 2 table spoons apple cider vinegar into scalp.

6. Baking soda

Add 1 tea spoon of baking soda to your shampoo before washing your hair.

7. Aloe Vera

Massage as much aloe vera gel as needed onto scalp. Let sit for 15 minutes before rinsing out.

8. Tea Tree Oil

Either add a few drops of tea tree oil to your shampoo before washing or massage tea spoon of oil directly into scalp.
