Written by a Harvard graduate, Thank God I’m Natural: The Ultimate Guide to Caring for and Maintaining Natural Hair is a must-read for any black woman who has suffered hair loss or breakage caused by relaxers — or has grown tired of spending thousands of dollars and her Saturday afternoons frying her kinky tresses into submission. Thank God I’m Natural offers up to date information — and a plethora of tips to help women break free from wigs, weaves, and damaging chemical processes, and was recently declared the “Natural Hair Bible” by Essence Magazine. I just wanted to write you a short note to let you know that I LOVE your book. I read the book in less than 24 hours. Needless to say, I could not put it down. I just want to thank you for compiling all of the information that all of naturals are scouring the internet for. Your book is actually now a resource that I use when I get questions about my hair from strangers and friends as well. I wish you all the luck in your future!

I work for City Government (Municipal Court) and for years I always wanted to wear my hair natural, but I lacked the confidence and knowledge to do so. But, after hearing your testimony, I m not fearful anymore of what they ” may say about me. Thank you for being my inspiration!!!

I loved it i am a former chemo patient whose natural hair is starting to grow in last time after I lost my hair to chemo, as soon as it grew enough i permed it my hair grew but was thinner than it was before, which is a stretch because it is naturally thin this time i vowed to stay away from the perms and texturizers since my hair is naturally curly , but I like to rock straight styles too and this gave me other options besides the chemicals love it!!!

Hello, I recently purchased TGIN on a Sunday and was done reading it on Wednesday. I thought the book was a great read and a wonderful of information for anyone who is transitioning or considering the transition to their natural hair. I started my journey in May 2011 and my hair stylist cut the last inch of relaxer on September 1, 2012. I’m still embracing the new me, but I am so happy that I made this change. My hair had gotten really thin and when I was younger, sitting in the kitchen with my grandmother and the pressing comb on the stove, I don’t remember her complaining about my hair being thin. It was too thick. I needed my hair to get healthy and thick so I decided to go back to basics. I do have one salon suggestion for your book/website. Laws Conept Salon in Chicago caters to natural hair also. Susan, the owner, has had natural clients for over 10 years. Just thought wanted to share… Thank you again for the great book / resource guide. This week I did my first hot oil treatment. I loved it.

Just finished reading your book and it was FABULOUS! Now, if I can get people to stop sweating ” me for my t-shirt. Even folks in Whole Foods were asking about it because they thought it had something to do with natural/organics food. I do love the attention though cause its a great shirt

Last week, I visited my home country Zambia which is situated in the Southern part of Africa. I went donning my afro and received mixed reactions. Some liked it and others thought I was crazy. I tried preaching to them on the benefits of going natural. Sad because I did not carry my copy of the book Thank God I m Natural. It could have made things easier for me by showing them the book.

I would like to say THANK YOU for writing such an informative book. I only wish I had read the book before I decided to go natural. It would have saved me a lot of heart ache and frustration; however, this is still much that I need to learn which has been answered in your book. I hope I get an opportunity to meet you when you come to Houston in July.

Thanks for being so warm, welcoming, and candid in your discussion and for making it interactive. I m looking forward to future projects and more from TGIN. Great pics by the way, thanks for posting and letting people see the natural curlies represent the DMV. Much success!
