While some curl types love heavy products, for others it can weigh hair down and cause buildup. Here’s how to tell if your products are too heavy.
heavy, natural hair, tgin. too heavy, natural products, buildup, greasy, weigh down
Hair feels weighed down
If after you apply your leave-in, if your hair looks and feels weighed down long after you applied your product, chances are you are either applying too much product, or the product you are using is too thick for your hair. After applying your product, your hair should be able to move freely and not feel heavy, greasy or feel like it has buildup.
Hair looks/feels greasy
Wet look aside, if days after you apply your hair product you don’t need to refresh or add water, and your hair looks and feels greasy, your product is probably too heavy for your hair type. Natural hair is naturally on the drier side as it takes longer for the oils that our scalp naturally produces to travel down curls, kinks, and coils of natural hair, greasy looking hair is a good indication that your product is too heavy for your hair.
