College can be as scary as it is exciting. You’re making all new friends, living on your own for the first time and juggling a demanding school schedule while trying to maintain a social life! The last thing you want to worry about while keeping up your GPA is keeping up with your natural hair. That is why we made your life a tad bit easier with this list of tips and tricks for caring for your natural hair while living in the dorms.

1.Scale down on products

While you may have had hundreds of products and been a complete product junkie at mom’s house, that isn’t going to fly in college. Dorm life is all about consolidating space and while it may feel like you need 10 different shampoos and conditioners, because options, trust me girl, you don’t! Scale back to using one collection for starters and buy items here and there when you need them. Try our Miracle Repair Strengthening Shampoo and Conditioner Duo for a great shampoo and conditioner combo and our Miracle RepaiRx Curl Food Daily Moisturizer for daily use to keep your curls protected and of course our Miracle RepaiRx Strengthening Reconstructor and Mask duo for well nourished and conditioned curls.

2.Invest in a good shower container

You don’t want to have to be lugging products in your hands while headed to the shower, trust us that’s a recipe for disaster. A good shower basket will keep all of your hair and body products safely secured, is typically waterproof and easy to carry.

3. Try protective hairstyles

While in a perfect world, all of our gorgeous curls would be blowing in the wind, that’s not always practical for 6am classes. Protective styles are low maintenance, keep your hair protected and keep you on time for class. Try braids, twists, up-do’s, buns, and ponytails for days when you simply do not have the time. Our Twist and Define Cream and Curl Bomb Moisturizing Styling Gel are great products to achieve these looks.

4. Watch Youtube Hair Gurus

When you’re on a college budget, DIY will easily become your best friend. There are tons of Youtube gurus that literally teach you how to do all of the latest hair styles that you’ve been dying to try. Practice on your hair yourself or find out who the budding beautician on campus is, trust me there is always at least one and they are often budget friendly.

5. Get creative

College is all about experimenting. There is no one style you have to stick with during your college career. Chop it all off, grow it out, dye it, braid it, straighten it, do whatever makes you happy this year and try something new!
